I love to road trip with friends, my sister and the fiance. It's always funny, we end up seeing some pretty cool things and meeting random people from all over the globe. Matt and I are off to Melbourne on the 18th! I will keep you posted about that trip but keep reading for some ideas on what to bring.
Forgetting to pack something? Travel can sometimes be stressful and every now and then you might forget to pack something unlikely. Write yourself a list a week or two prior and keep adding to it as you remind yourself of things. Toothbrush, toothpaste, ID, undies, towel and so on.
Here's a list of things you might not of thought to bring, not including the obvious.
1. Bring a book, if you can read in the car - I can't but some people can. If not bring it anyway because it will be handy if you're keen to lay in the sun or have some quiet in your room after a long day.
2. iPod/Phone/MP3 - whatever you have your music on bring it, plus the charger for the car and some head phones. Make a few playlists and ask your road trip buddies what music they want on the playlist as well before you go.
3. I usually bring my Tablet instead of a laptop, especially if I'm still doing some work in our down times. Bonus of bringing some technology is that you have the internet and GPS (incase of emergency). Use apps like TripAdvisor, TripIt and NavMan if you want suggestions on good places to stay and go out.
4. The First Aid Kit! You never know when you or a friend will need a quick patch up. How many times have you been caught out without a band-aid (plaster)? Saturday night blisters are the worst. Include matches and a waterproof bag if you're camping/traveling by car.
5. Spray Deodorant! Especially in summer. This way you can share if someone forgets or runs out. Wish I had $1 for the amount of times people ask for deodorant during the summer after a beach outing. I always keep a spray in my boot along with a towel, extra swimmers, a roll of toilet paper and thongs (flip-flops).
6. Wet wipes. These might be horrible on your face (damn Sulphate) but under the arms they can be a Godsend on a road trip. Sometimes you might not be able to shower, depends how far bush you go or how much money you want to spend on hotels/motels. B-O isn't such a worry in Winter but if it's Summer where you are.. well.
Just a couple of ideas most of my friends forget about.. or maybe they 'forget' because they know I will remember. 'Ms Dependable'.
Enjoy some pictures from a Summer holiday I had in January.
