I was thinking about doing a video on this but to be honest I much prefer these sort of things on my blog purely for photo ops.
Firstly can we just appreciate how cute my new makeup bag from ASOS is! I'm a crazy cat lady (if we haven't already established that.) You might be thinking why do you have two makeup bags and a brush set? Why don't you get a larger bag? I see your valid point, and I planned to until I found carrying different bags was functional. I keep things organised having small things such as eyeshadow pots, blushes, lipsticks in the cat ears bag, my palettes and other larger items such as foundations and primers go into the sparkly bag (ebay).
Recently Matt and I road tripped along the coast to Melbourne via his hometown. We also had a family photoshoot (watch my vlogs to see the trip and our photoshoot fail). I wrote this post prior to leaving but haven't had time to publish it.
I'm super indecisive about things so I always bring a few options incase of weather and certain occasions. I have packed two primers, the Australis primer for everyday wear and Benefits Porefessional incase we go out at night or it's warmer than expected while we are away - also planned to use this on the photoshoot.
I couldn't decide on a foundation, then I fake tanned so it was decided for me! Rimmel Match Perfection in 203 it had to be, nothing else I owned matched the tan. Gladly this is my go to all time favourite drugstore foundation to date. For more coverage I opted for Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in Peach Ivory. As my tan fades this will be perfect for later in the week when we go out to dinners and maybe clubs.
Yep, you see three concealers.. I have all the most favourable skin flaws - obvious sarcasm? Very dark under eye circles, redness and hormonal breakouts. The Maybelline Cover Stick in Yellow is great as long as you use a primer underneath and set it with powder, otherwise I find it slides off a bit. On top of the yellow concealer I apply the Maybelline instant age rewind in 60 and on the cheek bones Kardashian style. I'm using the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin concealer in the shade 02 Light to cover the odd spot and any redness around my nose, this concealer claims you will have better skin in weeks of using this and if that's true I'm buying the foundation! (edit: I bought the foundation).
Powders are always the same for me, Australis Fresh & Flawless in Natural and Rimmel's Stay Matte in Silky Beige. Australis Fresh & Flawless is the only powder I have ever used which lasts over 5 hours on my skin without having to powder before becoming an oil slick! It's definitely a t-zone holy grail for me. I say t-zone because it's a bit too heavy under the eyes which is where the rimmel stay matte comes in.
I packed my DB Illuminator for extra measure for the coming Photoshoot. I want to 'shine bright like a diamond!' (sorry, not sorry). Again for the Photoshoot I will be using Benefits Loli Tint as it's dewy and very pigmented. This will be a staple of mine in summer on top of a BB cream as it lasts all day and you can double it as a lip tint. I also threw in my go to Blush by The Balm in Argyle, it's the perfect pinkish purple for most skin tones which lasts for hours.
My go to Mascara at the moment is this Model Co mascara - unsure if it has a colour number or name as nothing came on the bottle. I got this out of a magazine ages ago and put it aside until recently when my Rimmel Day to Night ran out. The Model Co mascara has a synthetic wand for voluminous lashes, personally I prefer these types of bristles. I threw in the Barry M Vegas Black Mascara just incase (cannot survive without back ups especially when I will be with guys 90% of the time). The bristles on this wand are synthetic and give great volume and length to my short lashes.
For eyes I decided to go neutral with my original Urban Decay Naked palette (honestly the best beauty purchase I have ever made). For everyday I use Virgin in my inner corner, Naked all over the lid and Buck to deepen the crease and outer corner, then I will use the Maybelline Master Precise liquid liner to apply a small flick. If we end up clubbing in Melbourne or just doing a late dinner I will use Dark Horse and Toasted to transform my day look to a night look. I'm also bringing the Barry M Glow Palette to test out on the drive down.
A recent purchase is the Rimmel Scandaleyes eye shadow crayon in Bluffing. Easy to use, super pigmented and long lasting. They don't crease on me either. Perfect for the lazy eyeshadow lover, swipe all over the lid and blend out. Ta-da.
I have packed an array of lip products, because like eyeshadow and eyeliners lip products can really change up a look. Depending on the occasion I feel like I have all bases covered with nudes, pinks and reds. My Barry M in 62 is a fluorescent pink for a statement lip. For reds I decided to opt for NYX Lip Liner in Red for a traditional deep red, I could match this for any occasion. If I'm ever feeling like my teeth aren't as white as can be I throw on Revlon Siren and all my worries are set aside, this was a go to for me in summer and it's making a comeback in my makeup back for this spring weather.
E.L.F Matte Lip Color pens are the bomb.com they apply easily, are matte, long lasting, user friendly - the pen/liner feel gives even the shakiest hands a benefit to apply along the lip line. I packed the colours Rich Red and Praline. Onto nudes I opted for MAC Naked Bud from their Lustre range (limited edition), Savvy Lip Liner in Natural and Rimmel Exaggerate in 30 Natural.
My faithful brow product is NYX Brow Cake in Blonde, I haven't been able to top this nifty powder. I wouldn't call it a holy grail but I definitely haven't found a drugstore product which would come close.
For tools I can't travel without a mirror or tweezers, and of course brushes. I keep all my brushes in the Furless travel case. Comment below if you want an in depth review on the brushes I use daily.
I hope this gives you a little inspiration if you're going away for the weekend, don't forget false lashes if you love them too.
