The Body Shop - Tea Tree Face Mask

Friday, June 06, 2014

This is one of those skin care products I have had for what seems like forever. I suffered with acne as a teen, especially through-out ages 18 and 19. On the hunt for anything and everything that would work to dry out those pesky little buggers, in turn it would usually dry out my skin and break me out even more or have me a shiny yet flakey mess.. only recently I learnt drying out your skin will have your skin over producing oily and viola! Pimples.

I popped into The Body Shop one day and the consultant referred me to their Tea Tree range which is supposedly a godsend to those acne affected. Well, I bought everything! Face wash, toner, moisturiser and face mask. For me the toner stung like crazy and the moisturizer dried out my skin leaving it looking flat and sickly. I found the Face wash and Face mask the most beneficial. In saying that a good friend uses the night time serum and swears by it, it's one of those products you need to try before you buy.

Years on I'm still using the face mask into my weekly routine, I would definitely say it's what keeps my hormonal breakouts at bay! I can't not have this in my routine. Although saying this I spent a few months without it, I thought the tea tree could be to harsh on my skin and opted for some less effective options. Gave up and went back to the Tea Tree Mask.. why did I ever leave it! Skin is glowing, looking fabulous and clearer every use.

I apply a thin layer after a good cleanse, it doesn't sting and feels refreshing on my skin. I leave for about 5-10 minutes (note this doesn't dry like a traditional clay mask) and rinse. It soaks up excess oil without drying my skin and my skin feels moisturised when I rinse it off with a warm flannel (wash cloth). I notice my pores look clearer and smaller with regular use.

Texture wise it's thick, creamy and feels sort of velvety. If you're not a fan of the smell of tea tree maybe test this out before you buy.. it isn't potent and subsides after application - either that or my senses close over to it.

I would recommend for Acne Prone Skin.
